Read moreThis is the first 2023 release for Marlia Coeur; an EP dedicated to Devi (“The Goddess”). Inspired by Hindu mythology and her life in Bali, Marlia records these mantras as a celebration of the most important female deity Adi Shakti, the wife of Shiva, who is often referred to simply as the “Goddess”. As the Goddess sings her devotion to Adi Shakti, the First Force of all Creation, she bows to her power. Equipped with her handpans, guitars, beats and vocals, Marlia gives life in Parabhakti (supreme devotion) to 4 beloved mantras which have been sung across time in this tradition: Lokah Samasta Sukhino Bhavantu, Ong Namo Gurudev Namo, Om Gam Ganapataye Namaha and the White Tara mantra. Each one is dedicated to a specific deity and the wellness of all beings, as an Embodiment of the Divine Mother on Earth.
Tibetans pray to White Tara especially for health, healing and longevity. She is very close to sentient beings, like a mother to her children. She is very quick to fulfill our wishes and to grant us happiness and a long life, as well as to help us develop wisdom.
There are three kinds of Yoga: that of action (karma), knowledge (jnana), and devotion (bhakti). According to Devi, "of these three, the Yoga of devotion is the easiest in all respects. The fourth type is Supreme Devotion, which is completely selfless.”
Marlia keeps a minimalistic atmosphere with these mantras, with expansive reverb guitars, angelic harmonious vocals, soothing flute sounds by Alvaro Saldaña, grounding double-bass, cello and earthy oud tones by Sebastian Dimarco.
Marlia Coeur is much more than a musician. She has journeyed around the world with her music, seeking from her experiences a heart light as a feather, as well as providing it for others.
